The Man in the Iron Mask

The Iron Mask was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid - it's funny and features Jean Marais, one of the best French actors of his generation.

The Iron Mask is mentioned in my video: Who was the Man in the Iron Mask?

The Iron Mask is a French film directed by Henri Decoin, released in 1962 and inspired by the story of The Man in the Iron Mask, as well as the novels by Alexandre Dumas: The Three Musketeers and Le Vicomte de Bragelonne.

Ste-Marguerite citadel, France's most isolated island prison, holds a mysterious captive, whose iron-masked face nobody may see on pain of death. Cardinal Mazarin, who rules France in the name of immature king Louis XIV, needs to marry him off to a Spanish infante to seal a peace treaty, but finds him dangerously flirtatious and diagnosed terminally ill. He sends the unstoppable musketeer Charles d'Artagnan to secretly bring the captive, in his mask. The prison governor's daughter is secretly in love with him and arranges an escape just when the musketeer arrives. (storyline from IMDb)

Transparency statement: I have watched this movie several times and recommend it because I sincerely believe you will enjoy watching it too ^^
